Liverpool are ready to approach Bayern Munich to discuss a deal for winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has turned his attention to 21-year-old Shaqiri, after losing out on Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Borussia Dortmund last week.

And after insisting that he remains active in the transfer market for new players, Rodgers is hopeful he will be able to land Shaqiri for a bargain price.

The Switzerland international moved to Bayern from FC Basel last summer, but has failed to establish himself as a regular, and faces an uncertain future under new manager Pep Guardiola.

Shaqiri is expected to meet with Guardiola next week to discuss his future, but it is expected that he will ask for a move away.

Luis Suarez has delivered a damning assessment of Liverpool as justification for wanting to leave the club.

Until now, the Uruguayan has cited his perceived persecution at the hands of the British media as the main reason why he wants to quit Anfield.

And while he still continues to proffer that theory, Suarez now says he is listening to offers because Brendan Rodgers’ side are simply not good enough to contest the Premier League or, indeed, qualify for the Champions League.

Suarez, who is spending time with his family after his Confederations Cup campaign with his country, is quoted in The Sun as saying: ‘If I receive an important offer to progress my career, I will study it. Some clubs have asked about me but I hand questions over to my agent. I am no stranger to rumours.

‘I always want to improve. That’s why I left Ajax for Liverpool.

‘But this club needs to fight to enter the Champions League and, when it doesn’t happen, it damages the morale of any player. So I’ve suffered.

‘It is hard to view the Premier League every week with never a chance of winning it.’

Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen rejects move to Bayer Leverkusen

Christian Eriksen has rejected a move to the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, the Ajax midfielder's agent has confirmed.

Leverkusen were keen to recruit the Denmark midfielder, widely regarded as one of the best young players in Europe, but saw their advances rebuffed.

The Bundesliga side were reportedly willing to offer Eriksen a lucrative contract but the 21-year-old is adamant he will only leave the Amsterdam ArenA for a club at which his sporting ambitions can be met.

His agent Martin Schoots told Voetbal International: "Christian will only leave Ajax on sporting grounds, that's his main criteria."

Chelsea reject Liverpool interest in full-back Ryan Bertrand

• Chelsea believe Bertrand has significant role to play
• 'I want to be Chelsea's No1 left-back,' says Bertrand
Bertrand? Dafuq..

Arsenal told to increase bid for £50m-rated Luis Suarez by Brendan Rodgers

LIVERPOOL manager Brendan Rodgers has told Arsenal they are not 'anywhere near' to offering enough money into forcing the Reds to sell star striker Luis Suarez.

Arsenal saw a club-record £40million and a £1 bid for Suarez rejected by Liverpool, despite the Uruguayan reportedly asking for talks with the North-London club.

Because the bid exceeded the £40m release clause in his contract, the 26-year-old is permitted to talk with the Gunners over a potential move.

However, Liverpool insist they have no intention of selling Suarez, with Rodgers telling Arsenal they must increase their offer as their last bid was not 'anywhere near' his valuation.

The Daily Express's Mick Dennis:

"Out of all the pieces I've written over the years, and I've written some controversial pieces, the biggest response was from Liverpool fans when I wrote that I agreed with the FA banning him.

"That club and those fans backed him like nothing I've seen before. The T-shirt affair could have cost Kenny Dalglish his job.

"Is Suarez too good for Liverpool? No, I think perhaps the fans are too good for him. "

Transfer news: Liverpool say they have no intention of selling Luis Suarez

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has reiterated the club's determination to keep Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan forward has hinted that he wants to leave Liverpool this summer, leading to speculation that he might be on his way to a club who could offer him Champions League football.

Arsenal are currently leading the chase for the 26-year-old and lodged a bid of £40m +£1 earlier this week.

But Ayre told a press conference in Thailand, where Liverpool are preparing for a pre-season friendly, that the stance on Suarez had not changed.

"The situation with Luis Suarez remains the same," said Ayre. "It's never been our intention to sell Luis.

"We have received two separate offers from Arsenal and have rejected both.

"Luis remains a Liverpool player and is here with us in Thailand as part of our squad."

Liverpool open to Karim Benzema for Luis Suarez swap deal
LIVERPOOL would be open to a cash-plus-player offer for Luis Suarez from Real Madrid that could see Karim Benzema arrive at Anfield.

Starsport exclusively revealed this morning that Suarez was left angered at Brendan Rodgers' latest comments.

The Liverpool boss claimed Suarez owed the fans for backing him when he dragged the club's name through the mud.

Suarez was suspended for allegedly racially abusing Patrice Evra while he is banned for the start of the season after biting Branislav Ivanovic.

Liverpool have rejected a £40m plus £1 bid for Suarez from Arsenal, while Real Madrid are also said to be interested.

Napoli sold their star striker Edinson Cavani to Paris St-Germain for £55m earlier this month and Rodgers wants a similar fee.

But Liverpool would accept a cash plus a player offer, possibly French striker Benzema.

Benzema, 25, would fall down the Bernabeu pecking order if Madrid did bring in Suarez.

Die Daily Mail berichtet von einem Tausch Geschäft!
Benzema gegen Suarez.

:ugly

Dann kriegt Tottenham aber Messi!

Achja hier noch die Quelle!

Daily Star, nicht die Daily Mail sorry.

Brendan Rodgers says the impact of Kolo Toure at Anfield has made him reconsider plans to buy another established centre-back.

The Reds boss, who is seeking a left-back and another attacking player before the window shuts, was thwarted in his attempts to sign top defensive target Kyriakos Papadopoulos.

Reds owners say no truth in interest from Saudi oil company and two American billionaires

Liverpool FC owners Fenway Sports Group have rubbished speculation that they are trying to sell the club.

One report suggested principal owner John W Henry was looking to end FSG's three-year reign at Anfield with the Reds on the market for £350million.

It also claimed that a Saudi oil company and two American billionaires were interested.
