SPURS plan to get Christian Benteke for £20million — by making a raid at the end of the transfer window.
Benteke is a major target for Spurs but chairman Daniel Levy will try to get the Belgian star on the cheap.
Aston Villa, who signed the striker for £7m, insist they do not want to sell and it would take an offer of more than £30m to tempt them.
Levy is happy for the season to start before making his move late in August.
Benteke, 22, who scored 23 times last season, is on £20,000 a week and could be offered double that to sign a new Villa deal.

Neues von Christian Benteke, der bei Aston Villa am Montag offiziell um die Freigabe gebeten hatte: Der Klub aus Birmingham will für den belgischen Nationalspieler (Vertrag bis 2016) jedoch mindestens 29 Millionen Euro Ablöse erzielen, sonst muss er bleiben. Eine klare Ansage an Tottenham, das in der Gunst des Spielers dem Vernehmen nach vorne liegt. Ob die Spurs einen solchen Transfer nach der Verpflichtung von Rekord-Einkauf Paulinho (kam für knapp 20 Millionen Euro) noch stemmen können, ist fraglich. Villa betonte, ein Geld plus Spieler-Deal (z.B. mit Nationalstürmer Jermain Defoe) komme definitiv nicht in Frage. Auch Chelsea ist offenbar an einer Verpflichtung Bentekes interessiert.
Nunja, 30 Millionen sind dann wohl doch etwas viel Geld für einen Spieler bisher nur 1 Jahr hohes Niveau gespielt hat. :/:
